CheckPeople.com is a relatively new people search site focused on making it easier to locate public records, and thus easier for strangers, stalkers and potential employers to know everything about you.
Although CheckPeople has a list of “Don’ts” on their site specifically prohibiting employers, landlords, insurance brokers and more from using their data, there is no enforcement of these rules. Telling a bank robber “Don’t do that” is not going to stop him.
CheckPeople posts your age, full name, addresses [both current and previous] and possible relatives for anyone to see. Even more information, like arrest records, divorce filings, even traffic tickets can be acquired for under $15.
CheckPeople claims to not have any information on their own servers, but rather to aggregate data from other sites.
How to Opt Out of CheckPeople?
Email firstname.lastname@example.org requesting an opt out from their site. They’ll then offer to submit removal requests to their vendors.
- include your “full information” which includes:
- your full name
- your home address
- your date of birth
How Long Until My Information Gets Removed?
As they are not the direct company removing the records, they claim the process can take anywhere from just a couple days to more than a month. They recommend emailing back in two weeks for an update.
